The Department of Political Science at Michigan State University seeks candidates for a Research Associate/Postdoctoral Researcher in the field of Political Philosophy. The initial appointment will be for one year, with an option for reappointment for a second based on funding and performance.

Candidates should have broad research and teaching interests in the history of political philosophy. Candidates who specialize in classical political philosophy, modern political philosophy, American political thought, or contemporary democratic theory will be considered. The successful applicant will be expected to teach two courses per year.

Review of applications will begin July 1, 2019 and continue until the position is filled. The start date for the position is August 16, 2019.

Position Requirements:

  1. Doctorate, Ph.D. in political science by time of appointment;
  2. broad research and teaching interests in the history of political philosophy.

  4. one research paper;
  5. a brief statement of proposed research ideas;
  6. three letters of reference, submitted directly by referees.
