Apply Now: Postdoctoral Fellowships in the Honors College at the University of Tulsa

 

The new Honors College at the University of Tulsa invites applications for two full-time, one-year postdoctoral fellowships to begin August 15, 2023.

Candidates should have a PhD in philosophy, literature, languages, history, classics, theology, political theory, art history, musicology, or another humanities discipline. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellence in both teaching and research, as well as demonstrated knowledge of the classical liberal arts tradition, which makes up the core curriculum in the college.

The mission of the Honors College at the University of Tulsa is to offer an excellent and accelerated liberal arts education, focused on the study of classical texts in the liberal arts tradition, in a vibrant intellectual community that fosters friendship, growth in excellent habits of mind and character, and service to the common good.

The fellows’ responsibilities will include both research and teaching, with a 1:1 teaching load in the college. In addition to teaching, the fellows will take on undergraduate mentoring responsibilities and are expected to participate actively in the intellectual life and programs of the college throughout the academic year. Fellows who excel in their role will be considered for a one year renewal of the fellowship.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate must have a PhD in philosophy, literature, languages, history, classics, theology, political theory, art history, musicology, or other humanities discipline. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellence in both teaching and research, as well as demonstrated knowledge of the classical liberal arts tradition, which makes up the core curriculum in the college.

Applicants should submit:

  1. a curriculum vitae;
  2. a cover letter;
  3. a research statement;
  4. a recent writing sample;
  5. and a list of three references.

Candidates are encouraged to address in their cover letter how they are prepared to advance the mission of the College during their time in the fellowship.
