The Center for the Study of Liberal Democracy (CSLD) invites applications for the position of Associate Director (AD). Housed in the Department of Political Science, at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, the CSLD seeks to advance intellectual diversity at the University of Wisconsin-Madison by exploring arguments for and against liberal principles and institutions, as well as the study of texts written by exponents and critics of the liberal tradition.

The AD is responsible for day-to-day operations of the CSLD including programming, development, strategic planning, intra-University relations, relations with Wisconsin State legislators, and relations with the national community of scholars, institutes, and foundations with similar pursuits. Other duties might include teaching Constitutional Law or Political Theory courses, conducting research that advances the mission of the Center, advising undergraduate and graduate students on research and placement opportunities. The AD will coordinate donor relations and development as well as write grant proposals and manage fund allocation. Event programming and invitation of relevant guests will be under the purview of the AD. This position will also be responsible for staffing, including visiting scholars, post-docs, and graduate and undergraduate fellows. The AD will report to the Director of the CSLD. A Bachelors degree in Political Science or a related field is required; a PhD in political theory or public law preferred.
