The Jack Miller Center: Call for Proposals
The Jack Miller Center is now accepting proposals for grants in support of new campus programs or the expansion of existing campus programs for the 2022-2023 academic year. This call is open to the public, so feel free to circulate this announcement to any teachers, scholars, and administrators who may be interested in submitting a proposal. JMC is seeking to fund both existing and new partner programs.
The deadline for submission has been extended to June 15th, 2022.
For typical year-long programming including 4-6 to lectures, student reading groups, and/or a debate club, the typical grant amount is $10,000-15,000.
In some cases, we will also consider a larger request for programming that includes more ambitious events and conferences, or meets some long-term need of your department.
The Jack Miller Center supports the study and teaching of America’s founding principles and history.
A successful proposal will establish:
• The need for a new program, or the need to expand an existing program, on your college or university campus.
• How the new program or program expansion will advance JMC’s mission.
• Clear goals for measuring your program’s success.
• The ability to secure matching funds or other support from the university and/or other sources, and in general the ability to create a sustainable program without long-term commitment from the Jack Miller Center.
We encourage programs to host Constitution Day events. Please indicate whether your program includes such an event, even if it is not part of this grant request. A request for a standalone Constitution Day event can be submitted here.
Some examples of partner program activities:
• A speaker series
• Student reading groups
• A model Senate or Congress program
• A debate club
• A Constitution Day lecture or event
• Programming for middle/high school teachers
This list is not exhaustive, and you are also encouraged to propose your own ideas.
Above all, the successful proposal will demonstrate that the director has developed a clear and thoughtful strategy for achieving the program’s goals with respect to both events and seeking sustainable sources of funding.
Accepted proposals will be awarded for the 2022-2023 academic year. Subsequent awards are not guaranteed and may be contingent upon need, performance, and the ability of the program to demonstrate support from its institution and other funding sources.
