Community College Initiative
Our nation’s community colleges play a crucial role in American education, educating 41% of students nationwide. Yet community college educators receive little professional development or educational support.
It’s time to bolster civic education in our nation’s community colleges and invest in faculty and course development.
Nearly all students at community colleges must take a course in history, political science, or related disciplines. Our work with The Great Questions Foundation empowers the community college faculty who lead these courses to include discussion-based study of transformative texts and ideas in American history.
The ability to engage in productive and collegial conversations is an essential skill for the rising generation of citizens in our republic. Our community college initiative offers professional development opportunities tailored to the needs of the faculty who teach these political science and history courses.
This work is generously supported by the Teagle Foundation.
