Richard Avramenko is the Director of the School of Civic and Economic Thought and Leadership at Arizona State University. Previously, he was a Professor of Political Science and Integrated Liberal Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. His research focuses on ancient and continental political thinkers such as Plato, Aristotle, Xenophon, St. Augustine, Heidegger, and especially Tocqueville. He is the author of Courage: The Politics of Life and Limb, and co-editor of Friendship and Politics: Essays in Political Thought, Dostoevsky’s Political Thought, Aristocratic Souls in Democratic Times, Canadian Conservative Political Thought, and others.
Dr. Avramenko received a B.A. from the University of Calgary, an M.A. from Carleton University, and a Ph.D. in Government from Georgetown University.
