Matthew Brogdon is the Larry H. and Gail Miller Family Senior Director of the Center for Constitutional Studies at Utah Valley University. He has taught and published extensively in the areas of American political thought and constitutional development.

His scholarship encompasses the creation and development of the federal courts, judicial federalism, the development of religious liberty in colonial constitutionalism, the politics of nullification and secession, and the critical importance of the corporate form in the constitution of civil liberties. Through CCS’s partnership with Oxford’s Quill Project, generously supported by grants from the NEH and the National Archives, Dr. Brogdon works to make the tradition of constitutional statecraft on display in American constitutional conventions accessible to jurists, scholars, teachers, and students. Prior to joining UVU, Brogdon taught at Baylor University and the University of Texas at San Antonio.

Dr. Brogdon earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Political Science at the University of West Florida and his Ph.D. in Political Science from Baylor University.
