“Free Speech, Citizenship, and Civil Dialogue,” A Symposium for Teachers at the University of Wisconsin–Stout
The Menard Center for the Study of Institutions & Innovation at the University of Wisconsin – Stout is hosting a one-day symposium for middle and high school civics, history, and social studies teachers. Participants will examine major First Amendment cases and will analyze how those cases relate to students’ free expression rights and the practice of civil dialogue. Scholar sessions will be led by Professor Tim Shiell of UW-Stout and Eric Giordano of the Wisconsin Institute for Public Policy and Service. Participants will receive a $300 stipend upon completion of the symposium. There will be one hour-long virtual follow-up session to this symposium in November.
