Tufts: Montesquieu: For or Against Empire?

On March 3, 2023,
the Tufts Program in Political Thought at Tufts University will be hosting faculty partner Andrea Radasanu for a lecture on Montesquieu. Professor Radasanu will speak about Montesquieu on Empire and the Law of Nations.

Andrea RadasanuProfessor Andrea Radasanu is an associate professor specializing in political philosophy. She has published several articles and chapters on the foundations of liberalism in the eighteenth century, with a focus on Montesquieu’s thought.  She also edited a volume called The Pious Sex: Essays on Women and Religion in the History of Political Thought, which deals with the controversial relationship between women and piety. She is currently working on a monograph developing the international relations theory of Montesquieu and those he influenced including Edmund Burke, Alexis de Tocqueville and the American founders.

 

Professor Radasanu is a JMC faculty partner.
