|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every year that begins at 12:00 am on day 27 of May, repeating indefinitely

On May 27, 1930, the Chrysler Building opened to the public in New York City. The iconic skyscraper was the tallest in the world at the time and designed in a distinctly Art Deco style that still makes it stand out today. 🌇🌆🏙🌃

Design elements take inspiration from the funder, Walter P. Chrysler of the Chrysler automobile corporation, and include decorative radiator caps, a frieze of race cars, and eagle grotesques that mimic Chrysler hood ornaments. 🚘 🏎 🦅

Did you know? The Chrysler Building was the tallest building for less than a year – competing builders added more stories to the in-progress Empire State Building, quickly knocking Chrysler from the top spot.
