An event every year that begins at 12:00 am on day 11 of June, repeating indefinitely
On June 11, 1741, American patriot and physician Joseph Warren was born in Roxbury, Massachusetts.
A significant figure in the early days of the Revolutionary War, Dr. Warren led up several patriot organizations in Boston, and was the person that enlisted Paul Revere for his famous midnight ride. Sadly, Warren would never see the fruits of his efforts – he was killed early in the war at the Battle of Bunker Hill, merely six days after his 34th birthday.
Gregarious, charming, and a passionate speaker for the patriot cause, his talents may have catapulted him to a leading role in the founding were it not for his early death. One loyalist even claimed that George Washington would have been lost to obscurity if Warren had lived.
Did you know? Warren had such an impact on revolutionary activities, that four of the New England states have a town named in his honor.
