|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every year that begins at 12:00 am on day 2 of October, repeating indefinitely

On October 2, 1968, Redwood National and State Parks were established in California. Coast redwoods are the tallest trees on earth, reaching heights of over 350 feet! These protected areas are home to the tallest tree in the world, the Hyperion, which is nearly 380 feet tall. 🌲🌲🌲

Did you know? Despite their enormous size, coast redwoods’ roots only go about 6-12 feet deep. How do they stay standing so tall? A wide, but shallow root system that extends horizontally to tangle with other growth.
