Did you know? The Great Gatsby was a flop upon release, not gaining popularity until the 1940s when it was shipped to U.S. servicemen overseas. Fitzgerald, who died young in 1940, would never witness its success.
Fitzgerald was named for a distant relative, Francis Scott Key, author of the “Star-Spangled Banner.” Key was Fitzgerald’s second cousin three times removed.
