An event every year that begins at 12:00 am on day 27 of October, repeating indefinitely

On this day in 1858, 26th president Theodore Roosevelt was born in New York, New York. Roosevelt (or Teddy as many still call him) is remembered for his progressive reforms and “trust-busting”, active hand in foreign policy, and “rough and ready” image. He was the youngest president ever.

Did you know? While on the campaign trail in 1912, Roosevelt was shot in the chest immediately prior to a speech in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Instead of seeking medical attention, he forged on, remarking “It takes more than that to kill a bull moose.” During the short (but no doubt memorable) speech, he held up his written remarks to reveal two holes from the bullet passing through the paper.
