An event every year that begins at 12:00 am on day 15 of March, repeating indefinitely

On this day in 1767, 7th president Andrew Jackson was born near Lancaster, South Carolina. During his time in politics, the Democratic Party came into being. His administration was set apart by his prominent use of executive power, the Indian Removal Act and subsequent Trail of Tears, and political war over the renewal of the National Bank.

Did you know? As a young teen, Jackson was a messenger for his local militia during the Revolutionary War. He received a lasting scar across his face for refusing to shine a British solder’s boots.

A reflection of his famously rough character, Jackson’s inauguration party at the White House was one of the wildest seen in White House history. After the swearing-in ceremony, a huge crowd of guests streamed in, breaking dishes and spilling food in their excitement to celebrate the new president. White House staff finally lured much of the mob outside with barrels of whiskey punch. 🥃🥃🥃
