An event every year that begins at 12:00 am on day 6 of February, repeating indefinitely

On this day in 1756, infamous American politician Aaron Burr was born in Newark, New Jersey. Though he may be best-known for his duel with Alexander Hamilton (which proved fatal to Hamilton), Burr was also a Revolutionary War hero and served as vice president in the Jefferson administration, during which time he set a high standard for Senate proceedings.

Burr’s career went downhill after the duel. In the years following, he was put on trial for attempted conspiracy to overthrow the government and went heavily into debt.

Did you know? Burr’s grandfather was the famed colonial theologian Jonathan Edwards. Towards the end of his life, Burr would use the surname Edwards to disguise his identity and avoid creditors.
