|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every year that begins at 12:00 am on day 26 of December, repeating indefinitely

On December 26, 1935, Shenandoah National Park was established in Virginia. Extending along the Blue Ridge Mountains of the Appalachian Range, the park contains 100+ miles of the Appalachian Trail, as well as Skyline Drive, a particularly picturesque road running along the crest of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Did you know? As it was created during the Great Depression, many of the park’s facilities and trails were constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps, a federal relief program that commissioned men and boys in conservation work and reforestation.
