On October 27, 1787, the first of the Federalist Papers (Federalist 1) was published in The Independent Journal and The New York Packet. πŸ—žπŸ“°πŸ“

Written by Alexander Hamilton under the pseudonym Publius, it was the first of a series of seventy-seven articles written along with James Madison and John Jay to address concerns about the new Constitution and persuade the people of New York to ratify it. πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ“œπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ“œ

Did you know? The Federalist Papers became what Thomas Jefferson deemed β€œthe best commentary on the principles of government, which ever was written.”

Long after the ratification of the Constitution, citizens referred to The Federalist as an authority when discerning the true meaning of the Framers and even in contemporary times, scholars return to The Federalist while studying American political theory.
