An event every year that begins at 12:00 am on day 12 of November, repeating indefinitely

On November 12, 1815, American women’s suffragist Elizabeth Cady Stanton was born in Johnstown, New York. Along with Susan B. Anthony, she was one of the leading women’s rights activists of the 19th century.

Along with Lucretia Mott, Stanton organized the famed Seneca Falls Convention, the first women’s rights convention in America.

Did you know? The seeds of the Seneca Falls Convention were planted while Stanton was on her honeymoon in England. While there, she and her new husband attended the World Anti-Slavery Convention, where women were forced to sit in the back. It was here that she met future collaborator Lucretia Mott.
