|Recurring Event (See all)
An event every year that begins at 12:00 am on day 17 of May, repeating indefinitely
On May 17, 1792, the New York Stock Exchange was established as businessmen met under a buttonwood tree on Wall Street and signed a trading agreement to give preference to each other while buying and selling. 💸💸💸
Trading often took place outside (weather-permitting) as well as in nearby taverns and coffeehouses. 🌳☕️🌳
Did you know? The buttonwood tree became a beloved legend of Wall Street and stood as such until its demise in 1865.
