National Hamburger Day!

May 28 is National Hamburger Day! 🍔🍔🍔

While hamburgers are enjoyed all over the world, they are considered a culinary icon of the United States.

Though we don’t know their exact origin (several locales are disputed as the origin place, including Athens, Texas; New Haven, Connecticut; Seymour, Wisconsin; and, of course, Hamburg, Germany) it is clear that burgers took off as a popular American meal around 1904.

In that year, burgers were a huge hit at the St. Louis Louisiana Purchase Exposition. Often served at diners and food wagons, they were cheap, tasty, and easily portable.
