Today is the Lunar New Year!

January 22

Today is the Lunar New Year! Based on the lunar calendar, it is an important holiday for many cultures, particularly those of East Asia. Revelers take time to celebrate new beginnings and reflect on the qualities of the yearโ€™s assigned zodiac animal. 2023โ€™s animal is the rabbit, which represents calmness, patience, and peace. ๐Ÿ‡๐Ÿ‡๐Ÿ‡

While Lunar New Year is not a national holiday in the United States, Asian-Americans still celebrate their heritage with traditions including parades, bright red decorations, fireworks, and customary foods such as sweet dumplings, fish, and citrus. ๐ŸŽ†๐Ÿฎ๐Ÿงง๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸฅŸ๐ŸŠ
