June 25

|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every year that begins at 12:00 am on day 25 of June, repeating indefinitely

June 25 is Log Cabin Day! 🌲🪵🏡🪵🌲Though certainly not invented here, log cabins have long stood as a symbol of early America and the humble origins of colonists and frontiersmen. In fact, ninth president William Henry Harrison ran a campaign based on his association with the common people as “the log cabin and hard cider candidate.” 🪵🍺

The log cabin is more famously associated with Abraham Lincoln, whose humble birth in a Kentucky log cabin is still commemorated by the children’s toy, Lincoln Logs.

Did you know? Log buildings have roots in Scandinavian and other northern European cultures. Some of the earliest American log cabins were erected by Swedish immigrants in the 1600s in the Philadelphia area.
