JMC’s 2023 Summer Institute

Today, as a part of their activities at JMC’s 2023 Summer Institute, several of our fellows and staff visited Independence Hall, the “birthplace of America.”

Here in 1776, the Declaration of Independence was signed, and in 1787, the Constitution of the United States. What we know as Independence Hall, was originally a seat of local government: the Pennsylvania State House.

Did you know? Many scenes in the famous film National Treasure take place at Independence Hall, but the movie wasn’t actually filmed there. The movie’s hair-raising chase scene on the rooftop was recorded on a replica Independence Hall in California.
