July 16

|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every year that begins at 12:00 am on day 16 of July, repeating indefinitely

It’s National Ice Cream Day! 🍦🍨🍦

Did you know? Ice cream dates back thousands of years, but wasn’t brought to the United States until the 1700s. Though popular and widespread today, in its early American years, the treat was generally enjoyed by the upper classes.

Founding fathers George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and James Madison were all fans of ice cream – Washington even spent $200 on ice cream one summer at Mount Vernon (!) 💲🍨💲

The top ice cream flavor in the U.S. is, perhaps unsurprisingly, chocolate. 🍫🍦🍫
