On July 3, 1890, Idaho was admitted into the Union as our 43rd state. A largely rural state with lots of wilderness area, Idaho is known for its potato crop as well as an abundance of gemstones. 72 different types of precious and semi-precious stones are found in the state. πŸ₯”πŸ’ŽπŸ₯”πŸ’ŽπŸ₯”πŸ’Ž

Did you know? Western Idaho is home to the deepest river gorge in North America – Hell’s Canyon is nearly 2,000 feet deeper than the Grand Canyon! 🏞🏞🏞

What’s in a name? Idaho’s name origins are uncertain. It has been suggested that it stems from a Native American word for β€œgem of the mountains” or β€œland of many waters.” Mining lobbyist George Willing also claimed to have made the word up.
