On January 2, 1788, Georgia ratified the Constitution, making it our 4th state. It’s the largest state east of the Mississippi River and is famous for its peaches, pecans, and peanuts. 🍑🥜🥧
Did you know? Georgia was originally chartered as a felon colony – the colony’s founder, James Oglethorpe, wanted English debtors to find a fresh start in the colony rather than being sent to debtors’ prison.
What’s in a name? Georgia is named after King George II, who approved the colony’s charter.
