An event every year that begins at 12:00 am on day 21 of February, repeating indefinitely

On February 21, 1885, the Washington Monument was dedicated in Washington, D.C. At the time of its dedication, the monument to the first president George Washington was the tallest building in the world. Towering over the city, the monument is modeled after an ancient Egyptian obelisk.

Did you know? The monument took a whopping 40 years to complete! The project stalled for many years before, during, and after the Civil War, with the property even being used as a cattle pen during the war.
