On February 11, 1847, American inventor and businessman Thomas Edison was born in Milan, Ohio. Edison was successful in obtaining a record-breaking 1,093 patents during his lifetime. Did you know? Edison was a poor student as a child and never had any higher education, but showed a great aptitude for mechanics. In later years, he didnā€™t always place much store in the education of potential employees. Instead, he famously tested their knowledge with his own employment quiz, which consisted of 146 questions on a wide variety of topics.
