July 14, 2022
An event every year that begins at 12:00 am on day 14 of July, repeating indefinitely
On this day in 1913, 38th president Gerald Ford was born in Omaha, Nebraska. During his administration, the United States exited the Vietnam War and faced a domestic energy crisis. Ford is remembered as the successor to Richard Nixon, who resigned amidst the Watergate Scandal – Ford controversially pardoned the former president.
Did you know? Ford was the first president neither elected as president nor vice-president. Nixon’s original vice president (and running mate) was Spiro Agnew – Ford was chosen as a replacement after Agnew resigned in scandal.
Ford is also the only president that served as a national park ranger. As a young man, he worked seasonally as a ranger at Yellowstone National Park.
