News from the Kinder Forum

A message from Justin Dyer, Director of the Kinder Forum on Constitutional Democracy at the University of Missouri. Check JMC’s and the Forum’s website for updates.

Here are a few highlights of Kinder Forum activities over the last month:

  • Our undergraduate Society of Fellows hosted a debate on the merits of the Supreme Court’s recent Hobby Lobby decision with law professors Joshua Hawley and Frank Bowman
  • We finalized our list of courses and honors tutorials being offered this year as part of the new minor in American Constitutional Democracy
  • Over 50 talented students applied to be part of our Kinder Scholars academic internship program in Washington, DC.
  • Time magazine’s David Von Drehle shared his reflections on the legacy of the Roberts Court at our inaugural “Town & Gown” symposium

If you are in or around Columbia, I hope you’ll consider attending some of our upcoming events, including a talk about Ferguson and the fate of American cities by historian Colin Gordon, an evening symposium about Christianity and constitutional democracy with several Kinder Dissertation Fellows, and a lecture by Francois Furstenberg about his new book, When the United States Spoke French

Sincerely,

Justin B. Dyer, Ph.D.
