University of Houston: Instructional Assistant Professor of Civic Engagement and Community-Engaged Learning
The Honors College at the University of Houston invites applications for a promotion-eligible Instructional Assistant Professor to begin Fall 2023. The College seeks applicants whose teaching, research, and service interests focus on Civic Engagement and Community-Engaged Learning.
Ability and willingness to teach the “Introduction to Civic Engagement” seminar (HON 3331) and to teach new or existing courses in one or more of the following Honors College Minors is required: Phronesis (an interdisciplinary minor in politics and ethics); Global Engagement and Research; Data and Society; or Leadership Studies. The position requires teaching two courses per semester and a leadership contribution to co-curricular community engagement programs in the College. There is a particular need for faculty collaboration with the College’s Bonner Leaders program. The successful candidate will demonstrate teaching effectiveness and a strong commitment to mentoring undergraduates with a broad array of majors in an interdisciplinary, liberal arts environment.
The position requires a PhD completed by August 2023, in a social science or humanities field.
