Call for Papers: Duke University’s Seventh Annual Graduate Conference in Political Theory
The Department of Political Science at Duke University will host its seventh annual Graduate Conference in Political Theory over Zoom on February 26, 2021. The keynote speaker will be Melissa Lane, the Class of 1943 Professor of Politics at Princeton University and director of the University Center for Human Values.
The Department seeks completed drafts of papers from graduate students on any topic in the fields of political theory, political philosophy, the history of political thought, or related disciplines. They particularly welcome submissions that will engage a diverse audience.
In addition to building community among graduate students from different institutions, this conference offers participants the opportunity to receive feedback on their work from scholars in the field. Each selected student paper will have its own faculty discussant drawn from the political theory community at Duke or the broader Research Triangle. Participants are expected to attend the entire conference.
Eligibility
The Department seeks completed drafts of papers from graduate students on any topic in the fields of political theory, political philosophy, the history of political thought, or related disciplines. They particularly welcome submissions that will engage a diverse audience.
Submission Instructions
To apply, please submit a full draft of your paper up to 10,000 words long as a pdf. The paper should be formatted for blind review with no identifying information. The link to submit is here. The deadline for submissions is Monday, December 1, 2020. Applicants will be notified of their status by mid-December. Accepted conference participants will be required to circulate their final paper by Monday, February 1, 2021. If you have any further questions, please email dukegcpt@gmail.com.

The faculty of the Department of Political Science includes dozens of full time members, including several with joint appointments in other departments such as Public Policy, Economics, History, and Law as well as many distinguished visiting faculty from other universities in the United States and Europe. Members of the faculty have published dozens of books and hundreds of articles that have appeared in every major political science journal. Various members of the faculty edit or serve on the editorial boards of major professional journals of the discipline.
