The Political Theory Institute’s 2017-18 Academic Year

 

American University’s Political Theory Institute, a JMC partner program, just wrapped up its 2017-18 academic year. The Institute had an active year with several notable scholars visiting to offer engaging talks. The events in included:

  • Jonathan Rauch on “Why Free Speech is the Only Safe Space for Minorities”
  • Daniel Dreisbach on “Reading the Bible with the Founding Fathers”
  • Vickie Sullivan on “Montesquieu and the Despotic Ideas of Europe”
  • John Pfaff on “The Causes of Mass Incarceration: Moving Beyond the Standard Story”
  • Robert Bartlett on “Getting Lucky: Political Philosophy and the Problem of Chance
